About Tarangire National Park.

Often described as Tanzania’s most underrated national park, Tarangire is one of Africa’s little-known gems and a must for any northern circuit itinerary. Boasting a variety of wildlife as diverse as its landscape, Tarangire is also the park that can boast being home to Tanzania’s largest population of African elephants, with four of the Big Five also residing within the park. Named for the Tarangire River which flows through it, the park is an excellent choice during the dry season when animals are forced to move closer and closer to the river in search of water. Set against a backdrop of majestic baobab trees and twisted acacia, it makes for a beautiful experience.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival Day.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and transferred for overnight Accommodation at Your Hotel in Arusha. Your guide will meet you for the safari briefing.

Dinner and Overnight Hotel or lodge in Arusha.

Day 1: Arusha To Tarangire National Park.

In the morning after breakfast in your lodge/ Hotel in Arusha, your driver collects your lunch box for safari, at 08:00 am your driver guide drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park which offers some excellent sights. Generally in the dry seasons Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. We spent the night in our lodge beautifully set outside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere of Karatu Town.

Day 2: Karatu To Ngorongoro Crater.

After breakfast in your lodge we will start the day with a morning view of Karatu Town before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro we have a chance to glimpse something of the Maasai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steep sides of the crater. In the late afternoon we make a short journey from the crater to our permanent tented camp.

In the afternoon after having the lunch box in the Hippo pool inside the Crater, will continue with game drive until 02:30 pm then start to ascend out the Ngorongoro Crater pass through the Ngorongoro maintenance Gate to Karatu Town for overnight.

Day 3: Karatu To Lake Manyara National Park - Arusha Town.

After breakfast we will package all your stuff in the car because we won’t be back again in the lodge, then we will check out in the lodge. Then we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a half day of game drives with the package lunch box. This is one of Tanzania’s smaller parks but still offers a rewarding and diverse safari experience. The lakeshore at Manyara teems with birdlife, and while you are looking for the birds, you might spot one of the elusive tree-climbing lions. There are a surprising number of other large mammals and the striking cliffs on the Rift escarpment form a dramatic backdrop.

In the afternoon I will have lunch inside the Park then continue with game drive until 02:30 pm, Then will start to leave the Park direct to Arusha Town for overnight and dinner.
